The Community Board in Flushing, NY is dedicated to building and strengthening marginalized communities in western Queens while acting as a catalyst for change. They are actively involved in promoting health and wellness initiatives to ensure that their community has access to the programs and services they need to stay healthy. The Community Board provides advice on land use and zoning, the municipal budget, and the provision of municipal services. NYC Health+ Hospitals, with the help of the Mayor's Office of Immigrant Affairs (MOIA), is running a community outreach campaign for the NYC Care program throughout the city.

Kailash Ludhiana, BSN, RN, was appointed to Queens Community Board 10, which encompasses the neighborhoods of Howard Beach and Ozone Park. These Community-Based Organizations (CBOs) are Alliance for Positive Change, Arab-American Family Support Center (AAFSC), Korean Community Services (KCS), Make the Road NY, Single Stop, Voces Latinas, the South Asian Social Services Council (SACSS) and the MinkWon Community Action Center. The Community Board is also working with schools to create School Wellness Councils. These councils are made up of parents, students, school staff and community members who collaborate with school administration to promote a healthy school environment. The Community Board provides resources and support to these councils to ensure they have the tools they need to be successful.
